I have seen any number of such things done wrong. For example: heating
the entry way, or putting it inside the footprint of the building.
Other than that, I can't imagine the savings would even pay off the
embodied energy of the door and other materials.
Don't stand in the doorway saying 'goodbye', would be my advice.
