I my opinion, the only effective air-lock or vestibule or similar attempt to reduce infiltration upon building entry is the revolving door. Not exactly residential in character or cost effective for a single family residence, but realistically the only thing that actually works.

I have seen any number of such things done wrong.  For example: heating 
the entry way, or putting it inside the footprint of the building. 
Other than that, I can't imagine the savings would even pay off the 
embodied energy of the door and other materials.

Don't stand in the doorway saying 'goodbye', would be my advice.
