[Greenbuilding] Counters

yes, butcher block is a careless term; the horizontal strip stock (what I
referred to as Bally type) bears no resemblence to the massive, ancient,
concave butcher block my grandfather had in the back of his shop.  with
regard to beech, I found to my dismay (and expense to replace), it behaved
in the presence of moisture like a cranky two year old, writhing and
twisting to be free of its mother's grasp.
