You might want to know the layout before committing to just two CO sensors. 
Any credible CO alarm documentation will tell you to put multiple, in 
various places in the house. In my house, two is not adequate by any 
competent person's definition, with or without ventilation.

For all the reasons you mention you need a ventilation system. And then you 
could probably reasonably use only 2 CO sensors.
I would live in the space you describe even with seven CO sensors.
