Mr. KTOT \(\g\),

To speak plainly, I believe that many people really have addressed your
CO question and your battery question quite directly.
The broad answer to both questions, is for you to develop a working
ventilation strategy.

Battery ventilation while equalizing is an imperative need.
Supplying regular changes of interior house air, exchanged with outdoor
air, especially in the dead of Winter, is also an imperative. If opening
a window is too chilling, running an HRV is not.

RT, Corwin, John Straube, and others have all offered extremely helpful
advice, directing your attention to being more thoughtful, and going
deeper in your inquiry about your own house system of ventilation.
As the owner of your home, you are certainly empowered to receive this
advice.
And, at the same time, you have every right to ignore it.
