[Greenbuilding] ENERGY STAR Clothes Dryers Program Launch

This is specific to ES for Homes, not appliances or electronics. But that
obviously changes things for the entire program and they¹re scrambling to
see how they¹ll fit and remain relevant. Presumably more states and
localities will be adopting it.  Here, even the permitting agencies are
shakin in their boots trying to figure out how they¹ll implement and enforce
much of the provisions. There are some blanket provisions that are
problematic and butt heads with safety regs (I remember seeing this at a
briefing, but don¹t ask me to cite examples). My impression is that it will
force all sides to get creative and this creates an opportunity for problem
solving, not just whining.

ES has definitely served its purpose for getting these things on the radar
and getting builders to budge a little. But IECC really does seem to be a
game changer that ups the ante.
