Yes

Potential for 10-20% energy savings through design changes

Increased interest in technological changes (to improve ratings/sales)

On the negative side it would give the impression to consumers that dryers are energy efficient.

Speaking of ticks and laundry, I thought I'd share this:

I have heard that certain insects are attracted to certain colors & such. Would not know if ticks are any different. 

 

Evidence or not, I speak from personal experience about picking (dog, deer, and lone star) ticks off of line laundry which never touched the ground whatsoever. My guess is it has something to do with the overhead trees even though I know that ticks aren't know for their climbing ability. I do think it may have to do with the abundance of wildlife which are capable of carrying them along for a ride. 

 

Perhaps Its time we ask them? 

 

And I am once again reminded of the original topic: about wether it's a "good thing" for the greenbuilding community to support energy star dryers or not.

Another reason I love this list.  Rarely am I affronted by affrontery, mostly I find these funny.  Wonder if any of you heard CBC's 'WireTap' program today on NPR with its conversation about 'bats being in the bird class'.  It reminds me of this conversation on our list.  A nice amusement for Sunday morning.  

That said, I do agree with Corwyn and in particular his fish and net analogy.  It would be interesting to have some real evidence about ticks and clean sheets.  In the meantime, given the coming 106 today, this is yet another good line drying day here in scorching NE Kansas.

Maybe C's sign off regarding kindliness should be taken more seriously.  I do like Paul's more recent and very British "Brgds" even better.
