[Greenbuilding] Office Buildings as Peaker Plants

One of my professors was fond of saying that the presence of compressor-AC
was an indication of a poorly designed building.
The idea of remotely cycling large loads off during peak demand periods is
of course tempting and perhaps even smart in the short run, but flattening
our load, (working toward) eliminating peaky loads like AC could achieve
much larger net reductions rather than shifting load around to help the
grid.
