[Greenbuilding] gluing drywall to exterior foundation wall - ever a good idea?

Two walls of a room I'm going to be finishing in a basement are exterior
walls and the lower half is an 8" concrete stemwall with 2-1/2" rigid foam
and a waterproofing coat on the outside. The reason I'm tempted to glue
sheetrock to the foundation wall is that I've ended up with a 5/8"
difference relative to the wooden wall above, and although I did a fine job
with the concrete, the surface does still include the odd steel tie and air
pocket. I also have extra 5/8" sheetrock I could use for this purpose.

Thoughts?
