[Greenbuilding] Pipes Size?

Does anyone know how pipe size affects water flow when pumping water up a hill?
For example if the pump outlet is 1" and the pipe size is 1.5" will it
pump more water than if the pipe is 1" or will 1.5" pump less because
there is more water weight in the pipe to push up against?
