Dear Crispin,
I very much agree with you.
To test the indoor "climate" or polution will not "help" to much.
The stoves must be tested, regardless rooms or situations they are about to be used in or perform.
Another thing, the stoves should be produced from templates linked to the ones tested to "aviod" fake copies, allowed by a either Trade Marks or Copy Rights (C).
