Dear AD

Lots of topics today.

>India is currently experiencing an epidemic of heart disease. People as
young as 35 are dying of heart attack. The doctors attribute it to changes
in lifestyle (sedentary jobs, no exercise, junk food, etc.) But the study
quoted by Crispin suggests that air pollution caused by automobile vehicles
might also be a contributing factor.

In South Africa there was a plague of heart disease and it was always blamed
on Apartheid (everything was). It turns out that there is a widespread
contagious disease, bacterial, that attacks the heart and produces heart
attacks. I wonder if that is perhaps the case in India as well? Crowding is
a factor for transmission.

A brief search should turn up the info needed. It is treatable though
broadly unsuspected.

Regards
Crispin
