Dear Friends

Willis Eschenbach (who worked in three Sahelian countries) writes about the
desert, trees and goats the kill them in an article titled 'To Sahel and
Back'. He calls for the same thing Dr St Barbe Baker (founder of Men of the
Trees) did: plant more trees around the edges of a desert and you can beat
it back. Baker didn't say anything about killing the goats.

Regards

Crispin

Back

".I came away with the conviction that if every day, every person in the
Sahel planted one fruit tree and killed one goat, in about twenty years it
would be worth visiting."
