Frank,
I am a big believer in gasifying chips that do not vary too much in grain size.
Chipping and screening are cheaper than pelletizing. The fines could be pelletized.
Here, of course, a small fan is needed to force air uniformly through the chips.
With a fan there is firm control of primary air flow.
Thanks.

Dear Stovers,
It seems to me with using small stoves that the variation in the fuel is the biggest ‘noise’ factor in maintaining uniform heating. We have split wood, dry-wet, bark covered rounds and all types of wood etc. that in addition to a full/ empty fuel box or glowing embers all contribute to the variation. Pellets and pressed fuels are one solution. It seems the lowest amount of work and energy to make fuel uniform is turning sticks to chips. But are there any stoves designed to burn them?
Regards
Frank
