I am proposing that no attempt be made to bring air through the fuel bad at
all. The stove we were discussing last week that was burning the huge 24"
long logs with a cross draft fire at the back is certainly getting no air at
all through the fuel - it is sealed on top.

I think it is worth looking into a fire that is perhaps on its side
introducing air in a way that pushes it towards the open end of the sawdust
container. John Davies does this with his secondary air supply. I have done
it with a TLUD coal stove. There is nearly no air coming through the fuel
and they burn pretty well.

The worst cases for sawdust seem to be bottom lit with a small (and growing)
hole in the centre (a-la-VITA handbook).
