[Stoves] SPAM: Re: Chart of breathable particles

Hi All,

We could list the "OC"s (VOC, BC, OC) all together or separately, or both.
e.g we could do a long line that encompasses all of them, and then do
shorter lines underneath with the size ranges. Do they actually break down
into different sizes? I can't tell from what I've seen of the literature.
Mostly I've found volumes not sizes, but sizes are interesting too. Does
anybody know where to find the partical size information for the "OC"s?

Shapes are particularly interesting to me, but that's a different chart. It
seems to me that it's partially the shape, sharpness and breaking of the
particles that seems to be the worst thing about asbestos - or am I wrong?

Thanks,
Erin Rasmussen

Dear Frank and Erin

Re Asbestos: There is an article in the National Post today about the
re-opening of the mine in the town of Asbestos, Quebec, where is where they
mine chrysolite, the 'other' form of the material. It is where woven
products like firesuits and gloves come from. Because there is widespread
confusion about the difference between the two materials, if you are going
to add it to the chart, please put in two, one for each product, not one
with a huge size range and they have very different effects and risks.

I am really interested to know if we are going to be able to list the BC, OC
and condensed VOC's separately. I presume the point of the chart is largely
health-related. It is a pretty large subject. Lots to add, and analyse.

Regards
Crispin
