Dear Heat Retaining Friends

The Sustainable Energy Society of South Africa SESSA has a method for rating the quality of solar water heaters.

SESSA has a professional division for solar water heaters. Manufacturers receive an energy star product rating based on their solar water heater’s ability to retain heat. It is calculated from the heat loss per 24 hours.

This approach is very good. The performance metrics are explained. Different sizes of product get different performance ranges (rather like tiers).

I am suggesting that this system be used with scaled down values suited to the classification of retained heat cookers based on their total internal volume.

Regards

Crispin
