Dear Stovers and biochar enthusiasts,
This is an update on the "Stove and CHAB (combined heat and biochar)
Camp" that is in western Massachusetts on 6 - 10 August. Basic details
are at www.drtlud.com
This will be quite a gathering of knowledgeable stove and biochar people
with whom you might want to have direct contact:
******Presented below in order from generally larger devices down to
smaller devices including cookstoves, but there is considerable
overlapping of sizes and of coverage of topics.
Large units:
- Hugh McLaughlin on heat capture and storage in CHAB Devices (with a
focus on the larger units, including:)
- Demonstration of the Mobile Adam Retort purchased by NESFI, the host
organization.
Barrel-size biochar makers:
- Josh Kearns teaching making and using Biochars for water purification
(fresh with his experiences in Thailand.)
- Doug Clayton teaching how to make and operate Second Generation Jolly
Rogers Biochar makers
Cookstoves
- Bob Fairchild teaching current TLUD and TChar theory and practice (Bob
has substantial work in Haiti with TLUD microgasifier stoves.)
- Christa Roth presenting the current state of the art for improved
charcoal cookstoves (She will be coming to this camp right after
participation at the Stove Camp at Aprovecho the week before where the
focus is on charcoal stoves.)
- Tom Reed also hopes to be there as "micro-gasifier scientist at large."
- Paul Anderson "Dr TLUD" is coming fresh from the USBI conference on
biochar in Sonoma, California the previous week.
He is showing the latest TLUD design known as "Quad"
(description coming soon at www.drtlud.com ) that is into production in
Uganda and Kenya. Specific instruction will be available for
participants who want to take the Quad TLUD capabilities to their
overseas projects.
The Quad is either a regular TLUD or is easily changed to be a TChar
style of TLUD that sits over a charcoal stove and makes charcoal that is
then left in the charcoal stove for continued cooking. ( explained
at www.drtlud.com )
NOTE: This will be one of the largest gatherings ever of people with
major Micro-gasifier experience. They will interact with each other
and with all of the participants (including you if you come). This is
a very "hands-on" camp. And each participant can choose which topics
are of greatest interest.
And for anyone on the East Coast of the USA (or even those in Europe),
this Stove and CHAB Camp is quite close. So please make plans to
attend, or at least tell your friends so that they can come if at all
possible.
Further info and registration is handled by Hugh McLaughlin
