[Stoves] PCIA den Haag

Otto,

The ISO working agreement is just a first step in the process which was
described at the ETHOS 2012 meeting. Unfortunately the ETHOS 2012
presentation isn't online yet. It sounded like a reasonable approach that I
am sure will extend to emissions and fuels.

You can see the workshop agenda and discussion topics at:

http://www.pciaonline.org/ISO-International-Workshop

I'm sure that we will hear more about the workshop as people get home from
travel this week.

Tom

Dear Tom and all,

Does that mean "no more" focus on emissions, since those water boiling tests
mainly look into fuel efficiency, as far as I can see.

If thats the fact, I find it "very much basic" and not very "promising" for
the future to come and the struggle to reduce greenhouse gases and clean
indoor air.

There are a certain link between efficiency and clean burn, but not as clear
as clean burn and less or "none" emissions.

What about a standard for type of fuels, linked to the moisture content and
other quality factors, like we have here in Scandinavia?

The group here in den Haag has put forward an IWA (international Working
Agreement) in hopes of establishing a baseline for stove standardization
with the ISO. It's starting at the very basics - VITA WBT 4.0 - but they
wanted to start somewhere.

Does anyone attending have more to add?

Thanks

Tom
