[Stoves] Proof of Alex's pudding

Dear Friends

Here is a photo of the combustion analyser connected to Alex's wood trash
chip burner. It is a side draft combustor with a hopper that drops fuel into
a combustion chamber about half the size of a bread box. There is
significant air control. This unit ran clean down to 50% excess air and even
less.

The draft on the system was about 0.02" of water provided by an extraction
fan on the sort-of-chimney that emerged from the water tank that was being
heated.

There is a shiny galvanised 3/8" bolt emerging from the burner just below
the red handle on the brass valve. That bolt rotates a secondary air supply
collar with multiple holes in it. It has quite a good degree of control and
made a clear difference to the quality of the burn when it was adjusted. The
best burn was obtained with the lowest excess air ratio (under 50% but not
total stable because of the erratic fuel size).

The galvanised tread plate is part of an elaborate automatic fuel feeder
that shoves the fuel to the side using an auger. I say 'elaborate' because
it is connected to an automatic heat detection and water dousing mechanism
and a wifi unit to keep track of it in another building.

Regards

Crispin
