  Subject: [Stoves] Burning Char

  Greetings Stovers,

Drying some biochar on paper plates at less than 100c and the plate starts smoldering and actually glows red. The last batch that did this has very high carbonates (not sure what that means). Most chars do not do this. Any suggestions as to why?

  # I would suggest that possibly, it is not the char that caught fire, but rather the paper plate. I recall a test Report by the National Fire Protection Association, where they studied a House Fire, and found that it was initiated by a copper hot water pipe passing through a snug hole drilled in a floor joist. Water temperature of the Hot Water heater was set at 180 F.

  Best wishes,

  Kevin

  Thanks

  Frank
