Dear Friends

I wrote earlier about the stove selection taking place in Ulaanbaatar for
their Clean Air Programme. Now that they have 4 models being promoted
through year end they are testing performance using different fuels.

This is a test of a TLUD, pretty small, using a semi-coked coal product that
is not a briquette - just semi-coked lump coal.

It is not as low in PM as the raw coal in the same stove, but that is
primarily because of the wood needed to ignite it, not because of the main
fuel. Something interesting about this one is the very low CO level. We have
not been able over the past 5 years to get the CO reduced by 90% over the
baseline save in rare cases. This one nearly eliminates it.

All in all it is not that great a design even if the performance looks good.
It can easily be improved by adding some controllable secondary air (it has
none).

Regards

Crispin
