Dear Richard

I was REALLY tempted to make a joke about that at the time but decided l
liked Paul's religious metaphor as it was.

What Ron and perhaps others (are then any left) are coming to grips with is
the termination of misrepresenting fuel consumption through the mechanism of
a dry mass of fuel calculated from the fuel remaining. An era is ending.

In the first place performance or emissions should not be reported on a mass
of fuel basis because it limits the flexibility of comparisons. It is a
hangover from the days of coal where emissions were reported in mass per kg
burned. Now they do it in mass per million BTU's (etc). It is all about
energy now.

If there is a place for reporting energy efficiency in a way that does not
give the impression it represents fuel consumption, I would recommend it be
given as well because I favour duel function stoves where the char can be
burned in the save device if the use wishes. Selling it well is a good
reason. The problem is we have a long history (beyond our control) of
telling people that energy efficiency means fuel efficiency. Now, how to
undo that misconception?

Regards

Crispin

Er.. actually the briquette is holey fuel but only in the physical sense..

All joking aside your point is well taken
