[Stoves] Kakute stove

‎Ooh... very useful. I am loading some stove pics and descriptions on the CSI website and am looking for any material from any country anyone would like to offer 'freely' for the purpose of education and elucidation.

If you (or anyone) ‎wants to contribute such historical and educational material please create an account at Collaboration 4 development and go to the Cleaner Stove Initiative section which is on the main page with a bright green background.

Within the CSI section go to the relevant project, in this case 'Stove Products‎' and post the files with comments. At the bottom of the Upload page (which you access with 'Actions') there is a place at the bottom to pick a country where the activity is or was taking place.

It is a CMS (content management system) that takes getting used to so when in doubt click on the file path above the title (formally called the bread crumb trail) and click 'Content' near the top. This shows the folders.

Please tag documents and photos. In this case having all the attempts to create a Jatropha oil burning ‎stove should be tagged with at least 'Jatropha' so it will show up in a search on that topic. Reading of the problems Kakute had highlights fuel oil quality as a major problem, specifically viscosity. Very interesting.

I hoped the Protos ‎stove would succeed. Maybe they need a newer burner design.

The Kakute is one of three plant oil stoves listed on the website:

The second is the Protos. BSH abandoned the project in 2012, but have put comprehensive information online:

The third is the Aristo from the Dominican Republic. None of the links I tried to follow after googling it yielded any more information than is on the stoves list website.

  This seems to be one of the sincere but ultimate not very successful attempts to burn Jatropha oil and the link to this list (which I did not know about) has an interesting factoid. The uneven viscosity of the oil produced seems to have been a major factor in not being able to get the stove to work well, or shall I saw, at a consistent power.



  I would think that such a problem would be solved by a professional fuel processing service. Simple as that. Unpredictable fuel is the bane of liquid stoves. They only really work well with a completely predictable fuel.  With a solid biomass fuel at least the operator can make changes moment by moment to get the performance they want.
