Dear Mike,

Good afternoon. I trust you are fine.

I am writing from the Renewable Energy Sector of SNV Netherlands
Development Organisation Ghana.

SNV Ghana as part of its Renewable Energy Program is implementing a
2-year Improved Fish Smoking and Mangrove Conservation Project which
seeks to support the development of Sustainable Energy Value Chains in
Fish Smoking Markets in Ghana by improving Energy Efficiency and
Supply. Specifically, the Project seeks to improve the livelihood of
women involved in fish smoking and combat deforestation associated
with their activities by:

1. Promoting the use of improved and efficient fish smoking
stoves.

2. Promoting Community Mangrove forest cultivation, conservation
and rehabilitation

3. Promoting woodlot plantation development to supply
sustainable fuel wood for fish smokers.

Currently, SNV is supporting 4 fish smoking stove building companies
to develop significant improvements to the existing Chorkor smoker and
as well as develop other innovative models. These are in situ stoves;
and they are expected to have significant improvements over the
traditional Chorkor smoker. Most of these improved stoves by our
stove builders are mud-based.

However most of these stove builders require some form of support in
the areas of trainings on stove design principles to achieve the
desired efficiency. It would also be interesting to train our staff in
the renewable energy sector in this area. It is in lieu of the above
that I would like to know if it?s possible for Aprovecho to provide
the needed training to our stove builders and staff on the design and
dissemination of improved institutional stoves for productive uses.

In principle we would like to run such a training program this year.
Kindly get back to me on the resources needed for such a program.

With kind regards,
