Here is a typical Sumba Island stove for making palm sugar:



 

Palm sugar is an amorphous sugar that has a low glycemic index. In some
farming areas as many as 85% of households are involved in producing it. 

 

The efficiency of this stove in is the 'teens'.  It needs a purpose built
device with high heat and controllable power.
