[Stoves] NGO is looking for a stove update in production process

Actually I sent them to Christa Roth in Germany, but they got stuck in customs. She therefore brought her personal stoves to the US and collected the stoves from customs after she came back from ETHOS. A bit of a mission! All honour to everyone involved! After struggling for three years we finally got the samples to the Marshall Islands from Indonesia, via Norway, Germany, US, and the finally to the Marshall Island!

For the record Camilla Fulland at Prime was the  European connection who carried her 

her own personal stoves  to  Aprovecho because mine got stuck in EU Customs.

They were then forwarded Todd Albi at Silverfire to mail to me.

the stove now reside at the College of the Marshall Islands where they are used as demonstrrators in both

Environmental Science and Agriculture. 

Yeah on the whole stoves list!!!  AND I hope Deniz finds the same kind of support!!!

Todd at Silverfire has unfortunately pointed out a truly sad state of affairs.  There are many great stoves of all kinds.

However the world shipping industry has now managed to make it near impossible for people to get samples

for experimental or testing.

Probably the  most extreme example was the TLUD stove made in Indonesia. The stove costs about a nominal 20.00 USD

but shipping it to the Marshall Islands was in the hundreds. It was finally shipped, swapped,   hand carried and mailed: Indonesia to Europe 

to the USA to the Marshall Islands. Absolutely absurd but a true testament to all sharing bond of stove advocates workers and supporters all 

the way around the world.  A really epic journey.

You have asked the correct group for advice.   There are several options that you could consider.

I will advocate that you consider a very small TLUD (tee-lud) micro-gasifier, and I will assist you if you desire that type of heat source.

HOWEVER, these stoves do NOT use charcoal.   (actually they make charcoal, but that is a different side of the story).   Charcoal is notoriously slow to ignite, which is one of your requirements.

I assume that you have already considered using a candle (or a few candles).   The very small TLUD micro-gasifiers can provide the amount of heat you need.   They are very clean burning even at cookstove sizes, so the tiny TLUD that you need COULD probably be used indoors (depends on room size and ventilation issues).

*	that we do have a temperature of roundabout +120°C somewhere near the stove 
*	that the temperature should be reached really fast 
*	that the combustion last for at least 10 minutes 
*	that we can use charcoal 
*	that the combustion is high efficient and has a low-emission 

Maybe there is a stove out there, that suits our needs. :-)

I would be more than happy to get some feedback and/or input and can`t wait to start into a discussion on how we can improve our production process.
