Dear Tom,

“instead of just complaining from the sidelines.”

I am not sure what or whom you are referring to by that. Could you specify?

This webinar is dedicated to fuels and stove business, it is not discussing
science matters.

As for the advocacy initiative, I don’t believe it has been a « complaint on
the sidelines ». On the contrary, it’s been very frontal and public, and
adressed directly to the GACC. We expressed very clearly our views, gave a
lot of arguments, backed with many serious and unchallenged scientific
studies. We asked for specific actions, which are simple to undertake and
immediate.

There is no use in repeating during this webinar (only 15 minutes for
questions and answers) what has been said numerous times on and outside of
this List to the GACC.

I don’t see why we would have to be dancing the GACC’s tempo. We have no
years to wait.

We have been told more than enough things like: « We do understand there are
some issues on the protocols, we know there is room for improvement. We have
been collectively working with our partners to solve
 etc. etc. »

And by the way, I have been told by several people during this initiative
that : « you know, the GACC and EPA staff are very aware of the WBT issues
».

So, yes, the message is out, loud and clear.

Now, what we wait for is the will to act. The ball is in the GACC’s camp.

Note that waiting for the ISO TC 285 to decide (when?) does not qualify for
an action.

Best,

Xavier

Challenges

Here’s an opportunity for all of the critics on this list to engage directly
in the GACC discussion instead of just complaining from the sidelines.
Attend this webinar and provide feedback on your experience with
entrepreneurial dissemination. What works and what doesn’t? What
constructive improvements can you contribute to the handbook effort? Tom

Dear Fuel and Stove Partners,

Please register for the Alliance’s upcoming Webinar: Addressing
Fuel-Specific Challenges – Tools, Methodologies, and Capacity Building for
Enterprises - Wednesday, June 28th at 9:00 AM EDT.

http://cleancookstoves.org/events/396.html

This webinar, which is part of a series that features resources,
innovations, and lessons focused related to fuels, will highlight the
results of capacity building consultancies provided by the Alliance and ENEA
Consulting to three fuel enterprises: an ethanol enterprise in Kenya; a
pellet enterprise in Rwanda; and a fuel cookie enterprise that is expanding
from Bhutan into India. Each enterprise was at a different stage in their
business model development and each capacity building plan was tailored to
their specific stage, challenges, and needs.

Other cookstove and fuel companies are currently facing or will face the
same challenges as the featured companies. To this end, the Alliance and
ENEA designed a "handbook" to help fuel companies address challenges,
focusing on four themes: market and demand; sustainability of supply;
logistics and industrial issues; and environmental impacts across the supply
chain. The guide presents the context of each of the three companies and
showcases the tools and methodologies used to provide analysis and
recommendations to each. The guide also incorporates data, methodologies,
and insights from previous Alliance fuel grantee consultancies. This webinar
will feature the handbook results and will walk participants through ways to
leverage the tools (supply curves, market replication tools, factory
location algorithm, etc.) and experiences of these companies to strengthen
their own fuel-focused business models.

Please share this event with your networks.
