Dear Andrew
Just realized I didn't respond to this.  I didn't "Arrive" at 15MJ/kg - I
just assumed I had the sort of biomass I see being harvested and used in
some rural areas.

I did consider it and  needed to factor it in in order to figure how you
arrived at a calorific value of 15MJ/kg.  I also wasn't commenting on your
arithmetic, just your start position for char yield, so I showed mine to
justify my calculations.
