It probably goes without saying that I concur with Tom, we have to
have some sort of metric to measure cleanliness. It still interests me
that we have moved from pm10 to pm 2.5, I understand the reasoning
that pm 2.5 are the ones that can reach and stick deep into the lungs
but thought it was pm4 and below that could do this?

Anyway the reason for my quote above from Nikhil's post is that this
surprised and disturbed me, to my mind it is fundamental to  the
greater society i.e. those beyond immediate family, that an individual
has an identity  in order to ensure he or she is not lost from
regularity bodies. It's part of the compact we have with society that
we will play our part and jointly we should look after each other.
Individuals that fall out of such a system are more likely to be
abused.
