Join the Alliance for Green Heat and the Biomass Thermal Energy Council for a webinar

 Thermoelectric Power Generation

Thursday, September 21, 2017
10:00 AM-11:30 AM ET

Presenters:

Adam Lorimer, Vice President, Co-founder, Alphabet Energy and

Dr Jeff Snyder, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern University

Adam Lorimer, talk is titled, Thermoelectric Heat Recovery - Lessons Learned from Eight Years Developing Oil and Gas and Automotive Applications. Adam served as the VP and co-founder of Alphabet Energy, and has two decades of experience in the energy industry. He is UK Chartered Engineer with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield and an MBA from UC Berkeley. Adam will describe the landscape of thermoelectric heat recovery, including what has been achieved by Alphabet Energy and factors impacting applications and market selection. He will then explain a few important technical considerations for developing thermoelectric systems considering materials, thermal resistance matching and power conditioning.

The second speaker is, Professor Jeff Snyder, and will speak on talk Thermal and Electrical Design Considerations for a Thermoelectric Generator. Dr. Snyder is Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University. He was Faculty Associate in Materials Science at Caltech and a Senior Member of the Technical Staff in the thermoelectrics group at JPL. He received his B.S. in physics, chemistry and mathematics at Cornell University and his Ph.D. in applied physics from Stanford University. His current research focuses on thermoelectric materials and engineering of thermoelectric devices.

This webinar supports the Alliance's 4th Wood Stove Design Challenge that will focus on automation and electricity generation.
