[Stoves] 4 kW !

Dear Nikhil

All worthy sentiments. If I was living in Tajikistan in winter and the electricity was on only 2 hrs twice a day I would be happier if I have one of these stoves. For one thing, I would be able to participate on this excellent discussion site.

There is a Scandinavian water heater that produces 5 kW, and a 7.1 kW unit from QNergy (the same one is used in the boiler). That’s about it for functioning devices.

I am not counting the 5W from some small stoves. We need kilowatts or more.

I want to run my sewing machine, my vendor’s refrigerator, my school’s computers.

Regards
Crispin

Crispin:

Anything that is 100% of this or 0% of that is often irrational. Diminishing marginal returns - or increasing marginal cost

But then I suppose the rational cannot be celebrated as virtuous. Like "no stacking" and MACT (Maximum Achievable Control Technology) emission rates.

Who can deny the discreet charm of "customers who want to go the extra mile to use renewables, based on their values and the values of their customers"?

To have electricity from the grid, PV, inverter, or the Sterling engine at the lowest real-time cost ignores the penalty of superfluous capital costs.

Any sacrifice is worth Sustainable Earth.

Nikhil

If all goes as planned, Maine Energy System's (MESys) ÖkoFEN Pellematic e-max will power all the testing equipment, lights, computers and audio equipment for this year's Wood Stove Design Challenge. Having recently hit the market in Europe, the Pellematic e-max produces up to 4,000 watts of electricity.
