Michael in 1983 NRI devised and built a device for drying copra for
Sri Lanka, picture attached.

In principle this would work with a tlud device burning shells rather
than a retort I think.

It actually lends itself to a more holistic approach of cascading the
heat such that the highest temperatures could produce power and then
the rejected heat doing the drying at a lower temperature.
