Sharing "a taste of clean cooking that Leaves No One Behind,"
Inyenyeri serves up clean energy solutions on a global stage

Last month Inyenyeri cooked up a clever way to engage delegates at two key international events with the facts (and flavors) about our clean cooking solutions.

First was the Sustainable Energy Forum (http://seforallforum.org/?utm_source=Inyenyeri&utm_campaign=c80facc26f-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_03_28&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_9d75a672b9-c80facc26f-16027657) in Lisbon, where Inyenyeri was on everyone's lips...and then in their mouth.  During the annual global gathering committed to achieving the goal of Clean Energy Access, we made and served hot and fresh amandazi to hundreds of interested and appreciative attendees. One was Rachel Kyte, CEO of SE4ALL,(below) and a strong advocate for clean cooking fuels for everyone.

By the end, there was nothing left but empty trays covered in remnants of powdered sugar. While Sandrine Karenzi and Ephram Rekundo were busy sharing a taste of Rwanda, our CEO Eric Reynolds helped drive the discussion on a panel and in later interviews about the importance of fuel based models in delivering on the event's theme of "Leave No One Behind."


Our next stop was Frankfurt for theInnovate4Climate (http://www.innovate4climate.com/en/home?utm_source=Inyenyeri&utm_campaign=c80facc26f-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_03_28&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_9d75a672b9-c80facc26f-16027657) conference, as guests of the World Bank Carbon Initiative for Development ( Ci-Dev). The delegates were very appreciative of the snacks, and also interested in the investment opportunities presented by the fuels-based model approach to clean cooking.

Inyenyeri recieves €1M investment from Oikocredit
During the Sustainable Energy Forum in Lisbon, Inyenyeri announced our latest investment partner, pioneering social impact investor Oikocredit.  Here's the press release outlining this exciting new partnership:
While we were in Frankfurt, we learned Oikocredit has a local investor office there, so we stopped in to show them our stove in action--and they returned the favor by introducing our Customer Service Manager Sandrine Karenzi to local apple wine. Danke schoen!
Record sales and customers, as charcoal prices spiral up
In Rwanda, the price of charcoal has skyrocketed more than 30% in the last months, driven by high demand and conservation measures. That has lead to record pellet sales week after week, and another record for customers. We're up 10% in April alone, to 3,300 customers. We're growing literally as fast as we can add new stoves and pellet production capacity.
The urgent need for a way to limit deforestation in Rwanda has been driven home painfully this year, with over 200 deaths attributed to record rains, flooding, and landslides. Last week, we visited the valley at Rwankuba to meet with some of the families impacted by the landslides, including this lovely grandmother. She's lived there since the 1950's, and this is the second time in recent years she's been forced from her home due to landslides. We'll be telling her story in more detail in an upcoming short film we're making on the connections between deforestation, climate change, and cooking.
