Dear Friends,

I am happy to share the summary report from our workshop on sustainable
charcoal and charcoal briquettes - Advancing Sustainable cHarcoal
Enterprises at Scale (AScHES) 2018. The AScHES Workshop gathered
representatives from 20 established charcoal briquetting businesses from
all over the world in Naivasha, Kenya for one week to share their
experiences and best practices, learn about new advances, and find common
ground to open dialogue and collaboration among a global community of
charcoal briquette producers. Many of the participants found this to be a
valuable experience as it gave them a chance to break away from their
day-to-day and enjoy beautiful Naivasha with a group of like-minded people
working on similar businesses and through similar challenges.

You can find the summary report and more information about AScHES at the MIT
D-Lab website

).

The AScHES organizing team is hosting a one-hour, open webinar to summarize
the workshop and respond to questions on Friday 24 May at 9:00am EDT /
13:00 GMT / 16:00 EAT / 18:30 IST (calendar invitation attached to this
email). You can join the webinar using this link:
https://zoom.us/j/352393028. Since we have a short time, please share any
questions or comments in advance of the webinar by replying-all to this
email.

We're also preparing to relaunch our successful business incubation and
scale-up program, the Harvest Fuel Initiative. You can read more about the
relaunch here

and stay tuned for more information about how to join the new cohort of
sustainable fuel businesses.

As always, let us know if you would like to join (or leave) the AScHES
mailing list, or if you just want to discuss anything fuels. You can find
more content from our work at MIT D-Lab
