Stovers,

I did not see the message below on the Stoves Listserv, so I am forwarding it to everyone.

I express our collective thanks to Fred for his great efforts. And to Damon Ogle who was also a great collaborator.

Sorry for the end of InStove, but glad that Nick is carrying the torch forward!!!

We hope to hear of further great progress.

Best wishes to all,

Paul

Subject: A thank you for 7 great years from InStove - and how to continue supporting our mission

After 7 years, we are handing off our work

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are writing to let you know that after 7 years of service, InStove has closed its doors and is transitioning to the next step in our efforts to provide clean cooking and health solutions to low-income communities. With your help, InStove has placed over 1500 stoves and medical sterilizers in 28 countries. These are serving hundreds of thousands of people and have helped to offset the use of thousands of tons of firewood – and will continue to make an impact for many years to come. We want to thank you for your countless volunteer hours, financial contributions, and other forms of support that have made this possible.

Long-time InStove employee Nick Moses has formed a new organization to carry on the work. Institutional Energy Solutions (IES), based in Corvallis, Oregon will continue to manufacture institutional cookstoves and related technologies in the US and in East Africa, as well as provide replacement parts for existing stoves. IES has developed longer-lasting, stainless steel stoves designed to be checked as standard size-and-weight baggage on an airliner from the US, or sent directly from our African manufacturing partners.

More information will be available soon at www.iesstoves.org<https://instove.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=80669349f7f61a37b7be9c7f1&id=3d196d93bc&e=106b5dffe0>.

How you can support the continuation of our mission:

An IES assembly facility is being opened by MAPLE Microdevelopment in Uganda as a part of an Innovation Hub designed to support Ugandan youth. It will be supplied with parts and materials from BURN manufacturing in Kenya. If you would like to help support IES and our partners in making this happen, please make a contribution to MAPLE's crowdfunding campaign:

We hope you take this opportunity to help IES and MAPLE move ahead, and keep them in mind later in the year when IES achieves nonprofit status. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions, comments, or suggestions. We will be in touch again this summer.

Sincerely,

Fred Colgan (retired InStove founder and director)
