My name is Diego Quan, I am currently finishing my MSc in mechanical engineering at TUDelft. I am sending this email because I know you and your organization have been involved in creating solution for the energy needs of the people living in developing countries (e.g., microgasification). This is a topic that I have dedicated years to, and the very reason why I came to study at TUDelft, in The Netherlands.

My thesis is on a novel biomass gasifier-burner "the Kulkan" which reports an efficiency of 60-65%, the highest as of now (compared to the 5-13% of open fires and 25-35% of rockets and TLUD gasifiers). I investigated the concept using highly detailed mathematical models, including computational fluid dynamics of reacting flow -CFD- in 3D, using the cluster here at the Energy & Process department. My supervisor is Professor Dirk Roekaerts, one of the leading combustion scientists in the world.

My invention was inspired in years of field and lab work where I tested several cooking technologies, e.g., flat top, rocket, gasifiers, induction, solar ovens, etc, and I have created something that is based on the use of locally available energy resources, which takes into account the cultural needs, which have proven to be determinant in the adoption of new technology.

I thought this would be interesting for you and thus I am extending this invitation to join me this Friday 30th at 14:00.

Attached you will find my abstract and a conference paper we presented at the World Sustainble Energy Days conferece, Austria 2020, where we won the "Best Young Biomass Researcher Awards" on a previous study testing 7 modern and 3 traditional cooking technologies with 85 families in Guatemala.

If you are interested, I will reply with the "Zoom" link.

Best regards,

Diego Quan
