Dear GrahamThe economics are not in favour of using CFI in cooking stoves. The inside temperature in not very high and the R value to be overcome is modest. Hence cheaper material but a little thicker does the trick well.RegardsAshok

Dear Graham;
Using ceramic fiber insulation (CFI) is an interesting idea.  It could be used for building stoves without metal components, and increase their thermal efficiency. Thanks for that.
I looked at a YouTube video where CFI was being used to make a pizza oven.  He raised a couple of safety issues concerning inhaling fine fibers: https://youtu.be/1Fl-Ut4b8K8?t=65That suggests that if this material is used for cookstoves, there should be some concern about accidental exposure of stove users to fibers if the stove breaks apart with age.
Do you have any comments on safety issues?
Cheers,Julien.
