"Hi Paul,
Do-it-yourself devices that can be made with locally available
materials are essential for the Ukrainians.

I recommend the following videos. They demonstrate two simple
technologies that will significantly reduce the amount of fuel needed
to heat water and cook food.

1. My first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSMR2ANIZ7E video made in
2008 (and now with almost 726,000 views) features rocket stove pioneer
Larry Winiarski demonstrating how to make a simple, but powerful,
fuel-saving, rocket stove using just 16 bricks.

2. My most recent video “How to Make and Use a Retained Heat
Container”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHdO_HaSqtQ teaches viewers
how to significantly reduce fuel consumption by making and using a
retained heat box or basket. It will cut cooking time for a pot of
beans or a tough cut of meat (from two hours to about 20 minutes)
saving 80% of your fuel. The video includes an illustrative clip from
the BBC special “Wartime Farm” which depicts life during WWII on
British farms, where rationing fuel and food was the law. One of the
viewers who commented on my video noted that in 1946, right after the
end of WWII, Berlin was a bombed out wreck and experienced one of the
longest and harshest winters on record. In the middle of the city, the
Central Park-sized Tiergarten Park lost its trees when desperate
residents chopped them all down for firewood. The wood could have
lasted much longer and helped many more people if only they had been
aware of these two simple do-it-yourself cooking technologies.

Hope this helps.
All the best,
Pat
