[Digestion] Trickling filter anaerobic digester

Hi,

I'm interested in building a small scale anaerobic digester, working as a
trickling filter. Wastewater loaded with COD would percolate on the filter
where biofilm would perform the hydrolitic, acido-, acetoclastic and
methanogenic conversion. The trickling filter would be located inside a
column, and in direct contact with the gas phase.
I don't see any information on the subject in the litterature. Are there
any reasons for it not to work? Does it sound to you like something viable?
Or stupid?

Any comment would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Bruno
