[Greenbuilding] Greenbuilding Digest, Vol 4, Issue 10

actually...if folks spent time outside ACTUALLY working ...they would be
overwhelmed by how hot we keep our homes! They would not wish for central
heat because a cool bedroom is refreshing!

I know because as a builder I am outside--- all day every day in my
longjohns.

I come home and I wear felt boot liners as slippers, and I keep my longjohns
on and often wear a toque or hooded sweat shirt in the house.

I do not feel that this awkwardly broadcasts my lower class status. but
rather my connection to our planet in that-

I live outdoors and take temporary refuge in my dwelling the way we have
existed for most of human history .

I set my thermostat by looking to see if i can see my breath. If I can I
bump it up by about 2 degrees farenheit (about 58 degrees farenheit total)

This is exactly why legislating energy efficiency is *not *going to save us.
It effectively mandates consumption (of resources to insulate)

we need to mandate conservation.

....my thoughts for the day

cheers
jt
