[Greenbuilding] manure containing daub/hair in plaster

I believe the hair that was commonly used in plaster on lathe in the 19th century was horse hair. Human hair being too "shiny" and lacning "tooth" The horse must only come from the tail NOT the mane. Or was it the mane and not the tail?
