[Greenbuilding] studies on CFLs and health issues

Hi,

The dog probably could hear the ultrasonic sounds that many electronic
devices "sing" as they work. And did not like it. A Scottish Vet (animal MD)
told me that CFLs and LEDs and even some PCs & laptops had brought several
dog owners into his surgery over newly "upset" dogs.

As 6400k (color temp) CFLs are the same as a summer daylight (which is
'blue' white to most eyes) - many in the UK talk of the CFL stopping SAD !!
Personall I hate warm or orangey CFLs (24ook color temp).

A couple of unscientific studies:

A couple years ago we were shooting a TV episode with Steve Thomas (This Old
House, Renovation Nation) and reviewed CFLs vs. LEDs. Our Australian
Shepherd got a "whiff" of a plugged-in LED bulb and didn't flinch or
respond. She got a "whiff" of a plugged-in CFL bulb and did not like it-she
jumped back and avoided it. Canine instinct.

Over several years of working with customers of all stripes, I've become a
believer that exposure to EMF and other "waves", including the magnetic
pulses given off by fluorescent bulbs, can have a deleterious effect on some
individuals' health. It seems that it can also be tied to Seasonal
Affective Disorder and psychosomatics, but that doesn't make it
illegitimate.

Although this is anecdotal, I think it's proof as a legitimate concern.
