Dear Stovers,
Gasifier stoves are relatively small scale devices for heat production
and with optional biochar output. They are featured at the 5-day
workshop near Byron Bay, Australia on 30 April - 4 May. This event is
part of the efforts by the Biomass Energy Foundation (BEF) to
disseminate gasifier stove technologies around the world, especially
the TLUD pyrolytic cookstoves.
This is very much a hands-on event to put into practice what Drs.
McLaughlin and Anderson will be presenting there. Feel free to
contact either of us (psanders at ilstu.edu), or contact the host of the
event, Dr. Paul Taylor, in Australia at potaylor at bigpond.com
The first two days will be a rather structured combination of teaching
and hands
on making and using biochar devices. Participants will learn about
principles and practices, including issues of Natural Draft (ND) and
Fan Assisted (FA) devices. The last 3 days will see small groups
choosing either cookstoves or larger scale exemplary biochar maker
projects at manageable sizes, and
getting down to create the results we want.
A flyer about the workshop/camp that also explains the "early bird"
discounted registration that ends 17 April is found at:

There are additional general info pages at: www.tridecca.com/bef
Notes:
1) If you print it, be aware that the A4 paper size of the original
might make the bottom line not be printed (or use "fit to page" option).
2) Australian dollars are virtually equal now to US dollars.
This is also a great reason to start some vacation time in wonderful
Australia, and maybe visit New Zealand on the way in or out.
We hope that you can attend.
Paul
