Hi list, Crispin:

1. This is to follow up on one of my sentences from yesterday: " To Crispin (message on this topic not shown below either), I will write a separate response - pointing out how little our friend Watts understands of these topics - and that you should be looking for other authorities on future global temperatures. "

2. I have since read the material on the WUWT site related to this "Downstreams" message. Watts himself only makes snide remarks. It is clear that he is only copying a PR release from the second-principal author and has no idea what the topic was about. But I hope others will go to the site identified by Crispin and read through the 104 messages that follow the PR repeat by Watts.

3. I was amazed at the lack of knowledge of virtually everyone commenting. Maybe 4 were somewhat sympathetic to the issue and maybe one person had read the Science article(s). If stove list members have never read WUWT, this one might be worth your short visit. The theme seemed to be - give a short supposedly humorous or snide remark - generally slamming scientists and governments. Almost universally missed that the artcle was about dissolved compounds containing carbon. We have a long way to go!

4. I either remembered or dreamed up a comment about temperatures going down for the next (?) thirty years. I now can't find it and so would appreciate receiving a copy so as to also comment on that topic.

List, Crispin, Paul

I saw the stove list introduction of today's "downstream" thread after writing the following which started on the "geo list yesterday.

To Paul (message on this topic not shown below), I would say that you are addressing a real problem for disappearance of char (floating away) - but that this article is talking only about dissolved black carbon (DBC)

To Crispin (message on this topic not shown below either), I will write a separate response - pointing out how little our friend Watts understands of these topics - and that you should be looking for other authorities on future global temperatures.

I will also send this below right away (as I had planned) to the "biochar-policy" and "biochar-soil" lists
