[Stoves] Making smoke in 2013?

Thanks for that Paul.

The only difference is that depending upon the concentration you will get a biomass burn or a charcoal like burn. You can design the proportions (up to 40% by dry weight) I don't know if this would make any difference or whether it is of any benefit to the Tlud user though.

By the way, we are headed down in to Nicaragua on the 20th thru 17th december. We come with the comfort of knowing that there is now an established cadre of Guatemaltecan trainers who can come down to set up Nicaraguan producers if support for them, and interest in the community--and more important than all that, there is a market for briquettes !
So Paul, and any and all of the rest of us, please let us know what you are doing-- if you feel it might have some relevance to your work there.
Thanks,

Richard Stanley

Richard,

One observation that does not refute anything you wrote, except to point out that the TLUD micro-gasifers are somewhat different regarding the re-circulation (re-processing) of created char being put into new briquettes.

Essentially, char that is mixed into a fuel briquetted will pass through the pyrolysis process of a TLUD without being burned. And TLUDs are not intended to be charcoal burners. Therefore, char that is created in TLUDs should either be used as biochar or be burned (as briquettes or as whole pieces of char) in stoves specifically designed to burn charcoal.
