Dear Chilly Richard

I did not grasp in my haste to reply that you were referring to a time
series. Very good idea. For example. Suppose you had a rating for a stove
that was 'when new'. After 6 months, things have changed. Handles fall off,
doors no longer close, performance deteriorates. Another 6 months, things
change again. The columnar display of these would make an interesting
translucent sculpture. 

It still might be better to colour code them and plot them on the same 2-D
chart.

Nice array &  clever BUT...

Even with added variables mentioned,  its a static picture --a summary at
best. 

It does not tell the story thru time.
