Dear All,

Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback on the Preliminary 
Action Plan. It was incredibly valuable to receive your thoughts and 
comments. Many of you commented that the Preliminary Action Plan 
presents a thorough picture of the problem and a comprehensive solution. 
Additionally, the emphasis on a market-based approach that considers 
multiple fuels, including charcoal, was well received.  We also heard 
feedback on several aspects of the Action Plan that need greater clarity.

Below is a summary of key points:

  * *Multi-fuel approach*—the strategy takes into account that consumers
    want choice. The Action Plan makes it clear that there isn’t one
    solution and that multiple fuels will need to be available on the
    market.
  * *Gender equality*—while this approach appreciates that women will be
    key to the success of this project; several comments noted that it
    will be important to ensure that women are empowered throughout the
    value chain.
  * *The government*—greater clarification on role of the Haitian
    government is needed as well as to ensure that the project aligns
    well with government priorities.
  * *Charcoal*—this approach takes the importance of charcoal seriously,
    particularly for rural livelihoods, but a substantial investment in
    woodlot management and sustainable charcoal production will be
    necessary in the short term. **
  * *Sustainability*—the strategy acknowledges that developing the
    market is a long-term effort, lasting at least 10 years, but it will
    only be sustainable through local ownership. Commenters agreed with
    the Alliance that the implementation of the plan should rely on
    local experts and managers.
  * *Prioritization of interventions—*the Action Plan proposes a lot of
    interventions, so prioritization and clear timing of interventions
    will help maximize impact.  Comments indicated a desire for greater
    clarity on the stages of the project.

We are now in the process of incorporating the feedback into the Action 
Plan. In August, we hope to publish the next version of the document. If 
you still have not had an opportunity to share your feedback with us, we 
encourage you to do so.

Lastly, our discussions with Global Affairs Canada are progressing well, 
and we hope to have positive news in the fall.

préliminaire. Il était incroyablement utile de recevoir vos retours. 
Beaucoup d'entre vous ont remarqué que le plan d'action préliminaire 
présente une image complète du problème et une solution complète. En 
outre, l'accent mis sur une approche basée sur le marché qui prennent en

  * *La durabilité*—la stratégie souligner qu’un effort à long terme est
