Ron:

You complain that "No mention at any time in the webinar or in the report
about charcoal-making stoves (or Tiers)."

But that wasn't the purpose of this report or the money. The report is
a " *retrospective
analysis* of the performance of the recently closed " Clean Cooking Working
Capital Fund".

The CCWCF was meant to provide "loans to creditworthy enterprises".

How many creditworthy enterprises have you identified in your target
customer class? For how much loan on what terms, and with what collateral
or guarantees?

Would it be possible to put together an alliance of industrial charcoal
manufacturers and an aggregator of carbon finance to produce 20 million
tons per year (to start with) of high quality char?

The idea is to a) drive down the price of charcoal in coastal urban African
markets and b) to drive climate finance to the benefit of the poor. (Yes,
lower fuel cost may reduce the demand for higher efficiency stoves for
households, but overall the efficiencies could be greater, even with sea
transport of charcoal from Europe or northern America. Climate benefits
extra.

Would you agree with me that the picture below is of charcoal or coal
briquettes (report p. 4)? It is rather mischievous - or deceitful - to show
a picture of clean-burning solid fuel while talking only of ethanol and LPG
investments.

As far as I am concerned, charcoal can be burned very cleanly, and wish you
and other makers of charcoaling technologies success. Working capital is
key to commercially viable products. A World Bank report last year Scalable
Business Model for Alternative Biomass Fuels and Their Potential in
Sub-Saharan Africa
<http://www.worldbank.org/content/usergenerated/asi/cloud/attachments/sites/collaboration-for-development/en/groups/clean-cooking-and-heating-solutions/documents/jcr:content/content/primary/blog/scalable_businessmo-VpGI/Scalable-Business-Models-for-Alternative-Biomass-Cooking-Fuels-and-Their-Potential-in-Sub-Saharan-Africa..pdf>,
amply recognized the imporance of working capital finance (though not for
charmaking as such; your technology is off the radar screen it seems).
