Here we raise cows indoors on odorless, fly-free bedding.
Each day their manure is picked up and either fermented into a feed for
pigs or chickens, or fed fresh to BSF larvae.
The waste of the larvae is used as the principle feed for shrimp, or it is
fed to red worms.
When manure is used as fuel, so many valuable nutrients are lost.
If one needs fuel, there are billions of tons world-wide of agricultural
and forestry waste that can be used.
The urine of the cow gets immobilized in bedding (containing up to 10%
biochar) where it is transformed, in large part, into microbial biomass.
Spent bedding is used as the primary means of fertilization.
Chemical fertilizer should never, never be used.
